About Miss Sandy

A calm, confidence-first approach to learning French, for every stage of the journey.

I’m Sandy but most people know me as "Miss Sandy"

I’m a qualified French teacher and language mentor, specialising in helping learners build clarity, calm, and confidence as they learn French, whether they are complete beginners or preparing for official exams.

My work is guided by one simple belief:

✨    "Confidence comes before fluency." ✨

When confidence is missing, even the most motivated learner can feel blocked.
When confidence grows, progress follows naturally.

Learning a Language Is Not About Being “Good at School”

I know what it feels like to struggle at school because I wasn’t a “natural” student.

I repeated years.
I failed languages I genuinely wanted to succeed in.

Not because I wasn’t capable, but because the way I was taught didn’t suit how I learned and that experience stayed with me.

It taught me something that now shapes everything I do as a teacher:

✨ M
ost people don’t fail at languages because they lack ability
✨ T
hey struggle because learning has been associated with pressure, fear, or self-doubt.

Years later, I found myself learning English as an adult, starting from very basic phrases, with little confidence and no safety net.

 ✨  I made mistakes.

 ✨ I  repeated constantly.

✨  I learned through exposure, patience, and use, not perfection.

And step by step, I began to speak.

That journey transformed my relationship with language and led me back to education with a clear purpose:

🤍  To teach French in a way that feels supportive, structured, and confidence-led.

Teaching French Across Ages, Levels, and Goals

Over the years, I’ve taught French across a wide range of learning environments:

✨ From primary and secondary education to adult and professional exam preparation.

 I’m particularly passionate about supporting:

✨    Teenagers aged 14+ preparing for B1 and B2 exams

✨    Adult learners returning to French after long breaks

✨    Learners preparing for official DELF examinations

✨    Students who feel blocked, anxious, or “not good at languages”

I teach French from A1 (including A1 Prim) through to C1, always with a focus on clarity, confidence, and steady progress.

My Teaching Philosophy

I teach French the way languages are meant to be learned:

✨ Step by step
Through repetition
In context
Without pressure
With encouragement and clarity

"I don’t believe in overwhelming grammar rules or fear-based learning."

Instead, I create a calm, structured learning space where learners feel safe to try, supported to grow, and confident enough to speak, even if they’ve struggled before.

What Students Often Tell Me

Many learners come to me believing:

✨ “I’m not good at languages.”
    “I freeze when I speak.”
  “I’ve failed before.”

My role is to help them realise:

  • You are capable.
  • You are not behind.
  • You can learn calmly and confidently.

And when that belief shifts, everything changes.
